Eltham Palace Hotels
Eltham Palace, located in South East London in Greenwich, gives visitors indulgence in both 1930s Britain and medieval London. In the 15th century, Edward IV commissioned Eltham Palace's Great Hall, which boasts the third largest hammer beam roof in the country. Henry VIII grew up at Eltham Place, and he was the last monarch to spend a great deal of time there. Soon after, the site was used as a farm until the mid-1930s. It was even used as a barn during the American Civil War! When the Courtaulds acquired it in the 1930s, the wealthy couple promised to repair and maintain the medieval Great Hall, and they did. They also added an art deco house with a 1930's glamour interior design and the technology of the time. The Courtaulds also added beautiful gardens to Eltham Palace. It was repaired and restored in 1999. Eltham Palace is open to the public as well as for weddings and other functions. An adult ticket typically costs £ 8.20.Back to London Hotels
